TAPPA is excited to announce a special members-only online workshop series focused on Commercial Drone Part 107 preparation.
These workshops will be held online via Zoom and are designed for TAPPA members who are interested in learning more about legally and professionally operating drones for:

Other paid creative and professional services
Whether you already own a drone, are thinking about purchasing one, or simply want to better understand what is required to operate legally under FAA rules, this three-part online series will help you become more familiar with the Commercial Drone Part 107 process.
There is no additional charge for current TAPPA members to attend this workshop series.

Class 1 — Introduction to Commercial Drone Part 107
Sunday, July 12 | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
This first session will introduce the basic requirements for commercial drone operation under FAA Part 107.
Topics will include:
What the FAA Part 107 certificate is
Who needs a Part 107 certificate
The difference between recreational and commercial drone operation
Basic FAA requirements for commercial drone pilots
How to apply for Part 107
How the testing process works
What to expect from the FAA knowledge exam
Basic aircraft requirements
Drone registration overview
Important first steps for anyone considering commercial drone services
Class 2 — Operational Rules, Airspace, and Flight Limitations
Sunday, August 9 | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
The second session will focus on the major operating rules and restrictions that commercial drone pilots need to understand.
Topics will include:
Visual line of sight requirements
The 400-foot AGL rule
Class G airspace basics
Controlled airspace overview
How airspace authorization works
Daylight and twilight operations
Anti-collision lighting requirements
Drone speed limitations
Flying over people
Flying near or over moving vehicles
Practical examples for photographers and videographers working in real-world environments
Class 3 — Application Process, Compliance, and Professional Operations
Sunday, September 13 | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
The third session will focus on what happens after the test, along with ongoing compliance and professional responsibilities.
Topics will include:
Creating an IACRA account
Submitting the FAA Form 8710-13 application
Using your exam ID number
TSA background screening
Printing your temporary certificate
Receiving your permanent Remote Pilot Certificate
Recordkeeping requirements
Maintaining compliance as a commercial drone pilot
Accident reporting requirements
Crew roles and definitions
Responsibilities of the Remote Pilot in Command
Practical business considerations for adding drone services to photography and video work
